Dialysis water systems
Purified water for hospital kidney dialysis machines: softener, carbon, double-pass RO, optional EDI or ultrafiltration and a disinfectable distribution loop, designed to ISO 23500 microbial limits (<100 CFU/mL, <0.25 EU/mL endotoxin). Monitoring, disinfection and AMC included where contracted.

Why dialysis water is different
A haemodialysis patient’s blood is exposed to 300–600 litres of water a week across the dialyser membrane. Chemical contaminants (chlorine, chloramine, aluminium, fluoride) and bacteria or endotoxin that are harmless in drinking water are not acceptable here. The system is a medical utility, not a drinking-water RO.
Process
Multimedia / sediment filtration → water softener → activated carbon (worker and polisher beds for chlorine and chloramine removal) → cartridge filtration → double-pass RO → optional EDI or ultrafiltration → storage only where necessary → disinfectable distribution loop to each dialysis station, with no dead legs.
Standards we design to
Product water designed to ISO 23500 limits: total viable microbial count below 100 CFU/mL and endotoxin below 0.25 EU/mL, with action levels at 50% of those limits. Ultrapure dialysis fluid targets (<0.1 CFU/mL, <0.03 EU/mL) can be supported with ultrafiltration. Chemical limits follow ISO 23500-3, and local health authority requirements are confirmed per site.
Disinfection and monitoring
Heat or chemical disinfection of RO and loop as designed, online conductivity and temperature, chlorine checks after carbon, and a monthly microbiology and endotoxin sampling plan. Records kept for the hospital’s quality file.
Design data we need
Number of dialysis stations and shifts, feed water analysis, available room, existing loop material and layout, and the hospital’s infection-control and authority requirements.
Included / excluded
Included: process design, pretreatment, double-pass RO, optional EDI/UF, loop and disinfection as BOQ, control panel, commissioning, validation sampling and AMC. Excluded unless written: civil and room works, dialysis machines, laboratory testing fees.
